Professor Ivan Wong is a Professor of Practice in Finance and the Deputy Programme Director of the Bachelor of Finance (Asset Management and Private Banking) at the University of Hong Kong. He also teaches on the Master of Wealth Management programme and serves as a career coach for MBA and other master’s students at HKU.

Before retiring from the banking industry in 2024, Professor Wong was a seasoned leader with 37 years of management experience across financial markets, corporate and investment banking, private banking and wealth management. He held senior roles at major global banks including Citibank, Chase Manhattan Bank and HSBC. His final industry position was Region Head, North Asia, and Chief Executive Officer of UBP Hong Kong.

In addition to his professional career, Professor Wong has contributed to the community through public service, including as a member of the Human Capital Committee of the Financial Services Development Council and as a member of the Executive Committee, the Accreditation and Exemption Committee, and Chairman of the Next Generation Committee of the Private Wealth Management Association.

Professor Wong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Studies from the University of Hong Kong and an MBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School and has been a CFA charterholder for more than 30 years.
