OVERVIEW
A global stage for the next generation of wealth leaders
Jointly organized by Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK) and The University of Hong Kong (HKU) Business School, and powered by the Wealth Management Academy (WMA), the Challenge invites undergraduate and postgraduate students from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and around the world to test their investment judgement on a realistic, institution-grade simulation platform.
The competition is delivered through the AmplifyME platform, enabling participants to construct and manage portfolios, respond to live market news flow, rebalance assets, and receive objective performance scores and rankings — the same kind of decision-making professional wealth managers face every day.

How the Challenge Unfolds
The Challenge adopts a two-round structure, preceded by a training workshop and HKU campus experience.
Pre-Competition Training Workshop & HKU Campus Tour
Before the case competition, participants attend a financial-literacy training workshop to prepare them for the simulation, followed by a guided tour of the HKU campus to experience the University’s learning environment.
Round 1 — Preliminary Simulation (Online)
All registered teams complete a preliminary wealth-management simulation via AmplifyME. To accommodate different geographies and time zones, the round runs as two equivalent live sittings hosted online via Microsoft Teams or Zoom in Beijing and Shanghai, with identical format, difficulty and scoring for fairness.
The session runs ~2.5 hours (opening remarks, rules briefing, live simulation). Each team then records and uploads a 5-minute strategy video. Top 10 teams advance to the Grand Final at BOCHK.
Round 2 — Grand Final (Onsite at BOCHK)
Day 1: a company visit to BOCHK including a guided tour of the BOCHK History Gallery, student presentations, a fireside chat, networking with BOCHK representatives, and a welcome dinner. Day 2: an onsite advanced AmplifyME simulation at BOCHK, followed by a short presentation and Q&A.
The Grand Final runs ~3.5 hours and places greater emphasis on investment judgement, portfolio suitability, risk management, disciplined rebalancing, and the ability to explain and defend a strategy in a professional setting.
